WELLE expands its market share in the treatment of highly contaminated leachate with new innovative technology

WELLE Group makes another leap forward in development in the Chinese leachate treatment market, winning a new contract in Guiyang City, an upgrading project of Bi Liba landfill leachate treatment system.

WELLE will supply its innovative technologies to improve the clear water yield as an addition to the existing osmosis plant. The previous osmosis plant was designed for an original 2000 t/d of mixed water. The leachate will be treated via a Disk Tube Reverse Osmosis (DTRO). In the future, the concentrates from the existing DTRO will be biologically treated using MBR. In the MBR all biodegradable organic substances as well as the nitrogen compounds are eliminated. The MBR effluent is again passed through a two-stage nanofiltration. There, the non-biodegradable organic compounds are concentrated and eliminated by means of oxidation. The combination of concentrating and contaminant-eliminating processes provides a process that does not require recirculation to the landfill body or external disposal of the concentrates. Complete biodegradation prevents odor nuisance in the future.

WELLE's technological know-how with a wide range of treatment processes makes it possible to offer sustainable and long-term stable processes to the customer.  The Bi Liba Landfill plant will meet strict national standards and help Guiyang City to cope with the increasing leachate problem. The plant, which has now been commissioned, will eliminate the adverse impact on surrounding communities and restore public acceptance of the site.

WELLE has been active in the leachate treatment market for over ten years and has built more than 300 leachate projects with a total capacity of more than 170,000 tons per day. The group currently operates over 40 projects and has provided its expertise in leachate treatment management to over 200 landfills in China. With this experience, the WELLE Group is able to combine all the technologies currently available for the treatment of highly contaminated wastewater, delivering economical processes at the highest standards.

The great confidence of our customers in the technological flexibility and competence of WELLE is both a challenge and an incentive for us. In the future, we will continue to contribute new ideas and solutions to ensure that our customers receive economical and, in particular, sustainable solutions from us. The Group is committed to providing excellent services while at the same time contributing to environmental protection. We will continue to set the trends in the treatment of highly contaminated wastewater.
